TOUR GROUP START PROCEDURE

Tour Groups are to arrive at the Start Control area in their packets but are not allowed to start proceeding into a TARGA Stage without the confirmation of the Course Checker "00” or Command Centre.
Once the Course Checker "00" has either reached the finish of the TARGA stage or is satisfied enough through the longer stages that the stage is deemed "Blue” or safe for competition to start, they will notify Command Centre and/or Stage Director to release the cars for that stage.
The Stage Director will notify their Starter that they can release the Tour Groups in the stage, but under the direction of the Starter.
ALL Tour Leaders will leave the Start Line at “Walking Pace” (around 10-20kph) with their Tour Group following behind at the same speed until the last vehicle in that packet has past the Start Control area and they will take off. The Tour Groups leaving the Start Control in this fashion serves for 2 reasons:

- To protect the safety of Roadside Officials.
- For the Start Trackers to record the numbers of the vehicles in each Tour Group packet (including the Tour Leader and Tour Sweeps if applicable) and the total number of those vehicles in that Tour Group.
