SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
This document is developed to help regulate the content being shared on social media platforms relating to the Event, especially while an Event is taking place. Different platforms of social media include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc.
The main objective of this policy is:
Any news, events or images that are posted by official TARGA platforms is done so by the Event’s media team. TARGA understands the benefits that social media can have to communicate and reach out to broader communities about their Events.
The use of social media whilst attending and carrying out tasks relating to TARGA Events is a distraction and should not be encouraged until duties have been caried out for the day. Content that is considered a breach of this policy include:
Always remember that when using social media platforms to put the safety of others first, individuals SHOULD NOT be using social media or on your mobile phone (unless necessary) whilst on duty with the Event. TARGA Staff, Management, Officials and Volunteers should also avoid ANY heated discussions regarding Judicial outcomes, criticizing Stewards and Officials, and engaging with competitors and other motorsport stakeholders relating to matters with TARGA as an organisation.

- Regulate the content that involves the Event in any shape or means through social media channels.
- Outline the use of TARGA Events’ content or images relating to the Event on personal social media pages.
- Reduce the risk of inappropriate use of social media by TARGA Staff, Management, Officials and Volunteers that would bring the Event into disrepute.

- Confidential matters – information that is shared in confidence with TARGA Staff and Management is forbidden.
- “Scare tactic” behaviour – including bullying, harassment, obscene language and behaviour, discrimination, threatening and hurting other people around them.
- Collective memberships – being involved or associating in group memberships on social media platforms that may bring TARGA into disrepute.
- Consent – obtaining images and videos to then be shared on social media without the consent of those involved. This is more pronounced persons under the age of 18, not obtaining parental consent, using trademark material on top of other trademarked images for copyright reasons, and sharing images of private rooms like medical rooms, rest rooms, etc.
- Disrepute – any other matter which arises that may bring TARGA or their events into disrepute.
