Responsible to
Deputy Stage Director

Responsibilities
  1. In conjunction with Start Trackers and SOS points, ensure that ALL Course, Tour and Competition vehicles have finished the stage or if they have stopped within the stage are accounted for.
  2. Where necessary pass any messages delivered, via Stage Net, to the Deputy Stage Director.

Duties
  1. On arrival at the Finish Control, position tracking vehicle in the correct location, set up dipole where needed and proceed to contact Start Trackers and SOS points. Enlist the help of other team members to set up dipole. Once communications have been established at least one tracker needs to be in the vehicle at all times.
  2. Ensure that you have Vehicle Tracking forms, pens, clipboard, and SOS locations.
  3. Track ALL Course vehicles prior to and including “00” Motorsport Australia Checker vehicle.
  4. Record ALL Tour vehicles, as per the Tour Tracking forms, as they come through the Finish Control. You will only transmit the 1st vehicle of each packet, and the total number of vehicles in each packet back to the Start Tracker once they have completed the stage.
  5. Track all vehicles from and including “0” vehicle on the Competition Tracking form up until “999” Competition Sweep vehicle.
  6. Record ALL vehicle movements through the stage after the “999” Competition Sweep vehicle until civilian traffic start moving through the stage.
  7. During the running of the stage pass on any relevant information to the Deputy Stage Director promptly. Blowing the vehicle horn is a good way of getting their attention.
  8. At the completion of the stage, return all complete tracking forms to the Deputy Stage Director.
  9. Assist in the pack up of the Finish control.
Keep yourself safe and follows these tips!
  • Stay hydrated
  • Where practical, seek shade
  • Park your vehicle across the road or track you are closing, well back from the plastic tape.
  • If a member of the public happens to come along, explain that the road is closed with the permission of Police, the local council and TMR for the purpose of a high-speed motorsport event.  Show them the permits that are included in this pack that the stage commander has given you.
  • At no time should you put yourself in danger from an aggravated person.  If they look like they are becoming argumentative, use your radio or direct them to your stage commander who will alert Event Command, and let them go.  If they do go into the stage, try to get them to go in the direction the competition cars will be travelling, then try and flag down the next competing or course car immediately, and explain the situation.
  • The road is considered closed once you have assumed your position on the stage.  Following from this, you will next see course vehicles checking the placement of all officials and tapes, boards, road conditions and road book.
