JUNIOR OFFICIALS POLICY
To ensure a safe working environment that Junior Officials can adequately perform their duties under direct supervision of more Senior Officials. This policy is in place to help Event Directors, Management, Staff, Officials and Volunteers manage the performance and supervision of those Junior Officials under the age of 18 years old.
Anyone involved with the Event must be able to follow the below conditions when dealing with Junior Officials.

If attending an Event as an Official, that Junior Official must have a Parent/Guardian consent form filled in for them and returned to their Supervisor. For insurance reasons, the Junior Official must sign on with the Event to cover any insurance claims made while on duty.
Anyone involved with the Event must be able to follow the below conditions when dealing with Junior Officials.
- Junior Officials must at all times be under the supervision of an adult.
- Junior Officials are ONLY eligible to hold a General Officials license.
- Junior Officials are not to work in isolated settings with an adult (unless the adult in question is the legal parent/guardian) which includes closed door settings.
- Junior Officials are to attend Officials briefings and briefed on the day by a Senior Official.
- Junior Officials ARE NOT permitted to witness any serious or critical incidents under any circumstances.
The areas listed below are where Junior Officials can be deployed based on their age:
- Event Administration – 12 years old.
- Non-competitive area – 14 years old.
- Timekeeping – 14 years old.
- Alongside the competition surface – 16 years old.
The roles and responsibilities include, and are not limited to:
- Liaise with Supervisor and take directions.
- Be aware of the position and duties of the role undertaking
- Report to the Supervisor about any incidents, accidents, illnesses or near misses relating to the Event as soon as possible.
- Adhere to the Event’s Officials Code of Conduct.
- Advise Supervisor if they are unable to undertake or complete task.
- Attend all briefings as necessary.
